51-Stud (C) 4AN Games, 2020
51-Stud is a gambling card game. In all variants, a player makes two bets – the “51 bet”, based on the total of all the cards in their hand (similar to blackjack) – and the “Stud bet” based on the best 5-card poker hand they can make. The player is dealt five cards, and may hit, stand, surrender, double 51, triple 51, or double stud. A player may hit as many times as desired, but if the total goes over 51, that player busts – and loses BOTH bets.
The two variants offered here are:
51-Stud Dealer – Play against a computer dealer. Dealer deals player and itself five cards. Three of the dealer’s cards are face-up, two face-down. Player goes first, hitting or standing as desired. If player busts, both bets are lost. If the player stands, then it is the dealer’s turn to hit or stand. If the dealer busts, then player wins both bets. If neither player nor dealer bust, it’s time for the SHOWDOWN. The dealer’s and player’s totals are compared, and whoever is closest to 51 without going over wins the “51 bet”. Next, the computer automatically calculates the best 5-card poker hand, and the “Stud bet” is awarded accordingly.
51-Stud Solo – Play by yourself against a paytable, similar to Video Poker games. Gameplay is similar to the above, except there is no dealer to play against. To win the “51” bet, player must stand on a total of 48-51 (47 breaks even). To win the “Stud” bet, player must have Three-of-a-kind or better (Two-pair breaks even)
In the paid version, there are two bonus variants: 51-Knock Dealer and 51-Knock Solo
51-Knock Dealer – The bets and goals are similar to 51-Stud Dealer, but gameplay is different. Instead of hitting and staying, player takes turns with the dealer exchanging a card with the next card on the deck. Since neither the player, nor the dealer has more than five cards at any time, there is no risk of busting. When either the player or the dealer is satisfied with their hand, they may “knock”. The other opponent gets one more chance to exchange a card. After this, it is time for the SHOWDOWN.
51-Knock Solo – The bets and goals are similar to 51-Stud Solo, but gameplay is different. At each turn, the player may knock, exchange a card, or surrender. Each time the player exchanges, a die is rolled. If the die rolls a “1”, then the player is forced to knock.
The main menu has a help screen that briefly describes the four game variants. Each game variant has its own set of help screens, describing the rules and procedures for the game, as well as diagrams of the game screens.
If a player goes bankrupt, they can start a new game with a fresh $1000. The main screen also has a reset button that will automatically reset the total to $1000. The game will “remember” the player total between sessions – e.g. if a player ends a game with $6500, then when they start the app again, they will start with a bankroll of $6500.
The game automatically ends if a player’s bankroll goes over $1 Billion.
